cash4clothescannock.comAfter millions of dollars in renovations and a complete course redesign, Mirimichi golf course near Millington is set to open July 25.
The reopening of the former Big Creek Golf Course in Woodstock has been highly anticipated since Justin Timberlake purchased the course in late 2007.
Timberlake invested $16 million in the course redesign after he purchased the land to save it from a residential development. According to Mirimichi director of golf Greg King, golfers will be able to see the investment as soon as they hit the course.
"I really think golfers are excited because the course is really going to be a world-class experience," he said. "We think our peer group will be the other highly renown public-access golf courses in the world."
The par-72 golf course will feature more than 7,400 yards, 80 bunkers, four waterfalls, six lakes and two creeks that run between holes.
Other unique amenities include caddies which will assist golfers on harder holes on busy days and an 18-hole putting green course.
The course was also designed to be the first eco-friendly course to be certified by the Audubon Classic Sanctuary Program.
Golfers will be able to enjoy the new course in the coming weeks, however some new additions are still in progress.
The course's 43,000-square-foot club house is expected to be complete in 2011.
Mirimichi's par-35 executive course, which caters to less experienced and younger players, will open sometime in October.
But even with these coming additions, the main draw will be the golf course which Mirimichi officials expect to be busy the majority of the summer.
King said that Timberlake has played some holes and he is eager for the owner to get a chance to see the completed product.
"Justin was last out early in the spring and he got the opportunity to play just a few holes that were available," King said. "We are anxious to see his impression of what has been created now."
