Usborne in 2011
The year got off to a flying start as Founder and Managing Director Peter Usborne was awarded an MBE in the New Year’s Honours list for ‘services to the publishing industry’. This reflects Usborne Publishing’s enduring popularity and ability to adapt to changing times.
In 2011, we will be adding to our fantastic range of non-fiction books, including the Big Books of Big, Look Inside and See Inside, which bring information alive with flaps, fold-out pages, stickers, sounds and fact cards. Appealing to parents and children alike, these beautifully produced books make information attractive and easy to understand.
Home learning
We believe we are the leading providers of friendly and colourful home learning books in every form. We are working with reading experts to produce new and exciting books for beginner readers and continue to add to our Very First Reading series and the Usborne Reading Programme, which now has over 250 titles. We are also helping children learn to write, as well as read, with books such as those in the Wipe-clean series.
Usborne English
In recognition of the importance of the English language around the world, we are launching English Learners' Editions - a range of Usborne Reading Programme titles that have been specially selected to offer extra support to English language learners, with audio CDs, downloadable worksheets and teacher’s notes.
Books for older readers
We continue to grow with our readers and this year, Usborne will be publishing more books for older readers than ever before, including Young Adult books from new and established authors. Highlights for 2011 including Dead Beautiful by Yvonne Woon and The Truth About Celia Frost by Paula Rawsthorne.
